Apple seeks a Sr. Applied AI Software Engineer to harness cutting-edge technologies like AI, machine learning, and computer vision to solve ambitious, high-impact problems for users. This role involves working across the stack from system software and frameworks to end-user interfaces to build Apple Intelligence features.
Responsibilities
- Work across the stack from system software and frameworks to end-user interfaces to build Apple Intelligence features.
- Collaborate with design, algorithms, software, services, privacy, security, performance, and sometimes even HW/Silicon teams across Apple to engineer end-to-end solutions.
- Debug complex cross-device interactions and contribute to a culture of shipping high-quality production code.
- Build UI interfaces and system software using Swift.
- Evaluate AI/ML algorithms for on-device integration.
- Contribute to user experience design and define technical requirements that drive development.
Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent programming skills in any programming language (preferably at least one of Swift, Objective-C, C++).
- Strong understanding of data structures, memory management, and concurrency.
- Skilled at debugging and triaging software defects including race conditions, deadlocks, synchronization issues in multi-threaded environments.
- Systems thinking abilities.
- Strong intuition for user experience and ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements.
- Solid cross-functional collaboration and technical communication skills.
Experience
- 5+ years in software development.
- Shipping customer-facing features or products to production at scale.
Education
- BS / MS / PhD in Computer Science or equivalent experience
