The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation application enhancements and new products for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for platforms, applications, and infrastructure using AI-assisted engineering practices combined with strong software engineering fundamentals.
Responsibilities
- Technical Direction & System Design: Define and evolve technical designs and system architectures for large-scope or cross-team features. Ensure designs balance scalability, performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- AI-Assisted Engineering Practices: Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to support design exploration, implementation, debugging, and analysis. Guide teams in the effective and responsible use of AI-assisted tooling; reviewing and validating results for correctness and quality. Maintain accountability for technical outcomes regardless of how tooling is used.
- Software Development & Quality: Design, develop, review critical software components; establish/reinforce engineering best practices for code quality; testing; operational readiness.
- Problem Solving & System Reliability: Lead investigation of complex system or production issues across distributed components. Drive root cause analysis; systemic improvements to prevent recurrence; improve platform stability.
- Cross-Team Collaboration & Technical Leadership: Work closely with senior engineers; DevOps; product management to align technical execution with business goals. Mentor senior/junior engineers on system design; engineering judgment; effective use of modern development tooling. Influence technical decisions across teams without direct authority.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Python/Golang on Unix/Linux/BSD OSes.
- Deep understanding of software architecture/distributed systems/system design principles.
- Proven experience owning technical design/delivery of large-scale/complex SW systems.
- Experience applying AI-assisted/automated tooling to improve dev productivity/debugging efficiency/system analysis.
- Strong eng judgment evaluating correctness/quality/maintainability of designs/implementations.
- Exp w/virtualization tech (VMware), containerized platf (Kubernetes/Rancher) is a strong plus.
- Excellent comms/collab/problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity w/Ageile methods (Scrum/Kanban).
Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's deg in CS/SWE or rel tech field OR equiv exp (8+ yrs)
- Strong hands-on exp w/Python/Golang on Unix/Linux/BSD OSes
