Principal Member of Technical Staff, OKE Nodes & Apps

We’re looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion for solving difficult problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services. At Oracle, you can design and build innovative new systems from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design new features and systems for our customers.
• Work across teams to engineer the best system (for operations and customers) regardless of organizational boundaries or ownership.
• Independently debug, maintain, and improve existing systems, focusing especially on reducing operational burden and improving performance.
• Be a generalist who can debug issues across a wide breadth of our stack.
• Scale our systems by building tooling and automation.
• Work with partner teams outside our organization and externally with Oracle.
• Participate in an on-call shift to help address service issues, and respond to customer support issues, and escalations.
• Partake routine or mitigating operational tasks necessary to run a globally deployed high-availability service.

Experience

• Eight or more years of experience delivering and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems.
• History of working in large Java or Golang codebases and experience with scripting languages such as Python, etc.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.
• Systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, a sense of ownership, and drive.
• Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure.
• Experience in developing or managing containerized workloads using Kubernetes along with one of the following two areas will be considered a strong plus: Overlay networking and container networking on Linux System and service management on Linux

Education

• BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding or equivalent practical experience.
